Light Weight Silica Bricks Description

Light weight silica brick, also known as silica insulating bricks,it is a kind of lightweight refractory material that the content of silica dioxide is more than 91% and the volume density is less than 1.2g/m3. The refractoriness and refractoriness under load is not much different form the ordinary silica brick. But owing to it has many pores, so the characteristics of compression strength, the resistance to slag, resistance to corrosion is inferior to the ordinary silica brick, but the thermal shock resistance is improved.

Production of Lightweight Silica Bricks

Adopt the fine silica as the raw material, usually the critical particle size can’t exceed 1mm, the particle under 0.5mm is not less than 90%. Add the inflammable material into batching or adopt the gas evolution method to form vesicular structure, and made by burning. It can also be made into unburned products. It is applied to the every kiln part of immediate contact of heat insulation or lighten deadweight with melts, unaffected by corrosive gas, not suffered form the sharp temperature. Using under the high temperature, it can’t be contacted with the basic refractory. According to the different material, the operating temperature is between 1200~1550℃

Features of lightweight Silica Bricks

It is mainly made of top class silica, via shaping and burning under the high temperature, possesses high temperature resistant, high strength and low impurities, etc.

Lightweight Silica Bricks Advantages

1) Good thermal insulaton effects

2) Good acid erosion resistance.

3) High softening point with temperature.

4) No shrink in burn repeatedly.

Silica Insulation Application

The main applications are the low temperature parts such as blast furnaces and hot blast furnaces, waste incinerators and glass melting furnaces.
