Alumina Brick Description
High alumina brick is an important refractory material which’s main component is Al2O3.The main raw material are bauxite, silimanite family mineral(kyanite, andalusite, silimanite, etc), industrial alumina, synthesized mullite, fused corundum and so on. If alumina content is higher than 90%, high alumina brick is also called corundum brick. There classes of alumina bricks are defined in China based on alumina content: I. Al2O3≥75%， II. Al2O3 between 60~75%, III. Al2O3 between 48~60%. Alumina bricks can be further classified into: sintered high alumina brick, unburned high alumina brick, alumina carbon brick, alumina silica brick, alumina chrome brick, alumina refractory ball, etc in accordance with chemical composition. The sintering temperature of I and II classes sintered high alumina brick is between 1500~1600℃.Unburned high alumina brick is produced by high pressure forming, has good thermal shock resistance but lower mechanical strength than sintered ones, not suitable for load bearing parts.
Alumina Brick Characteristics
High refractoriness: 1750~1790℃，higher than clay refractory brick and semi silica brick.
Low impurity content, higher refractoriness under load than clay fire brick but lower than silica brick.
Can resist acid slag and alkaline slag corrosion, alkali resistance capacity is better than acid resistance ability.
Alumina Brick Application
High alumina bricks are mainly used for building blast furnace, hot blast furnace, electric furnace cover, blast furnace, reverberatory furnace, rotary kiln inner lining. Besides, high alumina bricks are also widely used for open hearth furnace heat accumulation checker brick, casting system stopper end and nozzle brick, etc. Unburned high alumina bricks are usually used at stopper end, steel ladle inner lining, electric furnace cover and so on.
