Corundum brick is a refractory product with the content of alumina more than 90% and the principle crystalline phase is corundum, which have the characteristics of high cold compressive strength (up to 340MPa), high load softening start temperature (more than 1700 degrees C). good chemical stability, strong resistance to acid or basic slag, metal and glass liquid. The thermal shock stability is related to its structure, and the corrosion resistance of the compact products is good, but the thermal shock stability is poor. It is divided into sintered corundum brick and electric fused corundum brick.

Application of Corundum Bricks

It is mainly used in ironmaking furnace and blast furnace hot blast stove, refining furnace outside steelmaking furnace, sliding water device, glass furnace and petrochemical industrial furnace.

Corundum brick has been widely used in the lining material of high temperature, high pressure, chemical corrosion and mechanical wear of the petrochemical thermal device, with the improvement of petrochemical industry production technology, many new process and new technology used in production to enable the equipment to achieve the large load, long cycle, low energy consumption, low cost, in addition to the transformation of various thermal equipment, put forward higher requirements but also various lining materials on thermal equipment. In order to meet the needs of the petrochemical industry, a series of chromium corundum products with better resistance to high temperature and corrosion resistance have been developed.

Properties of Corundum Bricks

  1. High cold crushing strength , which can reach to 340MPa.
  2. High initial refractoriness under load is more than 1700℃。
  3. Good chemical stability.
  4. Strong resistance to acid and basic slag erosion.
  5. Strong resistance to metal and molten glass erosion.
  6. Dense products have strong resistance to erosion, but its thermal shock resistance is weak.
