Glass furnace is one of three major thermal equipment of the float glass production, there are 30% heat entered the glass furnace is consumed with the heat dissipation of kiln body, which not only cause the energy waste, and worsen the production operation environment, so the furnace insulation has become one of energy saving measure in glass industry.

Furnace insulation not only can greatly reduce the heat dissipation of the kiln body to the outside, but also can increase the thermal capacity of kiln body, improve the flame temperature, melting rate and improve the glass quality. At the same time, it can reduce energy consumption, save fuel and reduce the production cost, improve the enterprise market competitiveness.

Because the melt furnace insulation material is in a bad environment, so the insulation material choosing should accord with the following principle.

  1. With the good insulation property, that the heat conductivity coefficient is less than or equal to ≤0.14W/(m·K)(350K).
  2. With a certain refractoriness, especially in the condition of compound insulation, the thermal insulation layers should satisfy the demand of interface temperature, otherwise it will greatly influence the insulation performance, or even fail it.
  3. With the high temperature stability, which can ensure that it without chalking and non-shedding.
  4. With the good chemical stability, it is not allowed to corrode or corrode the structure of the body, and can be fixed with refractory materials.
  5. With a certain shock resistance and light weight.
  6. The material allocation plan should with economy.

The classification of insulation material of glass furnace: there are mainly light weight clay brick, light weight high alumina brick, light mullite brick, light weight silica, alumino-silicate fiber cotton , calcium silicate board, etc. Owing to the different using temperature, different applications, so the price is of great difference. For example, the arch part is of curved surface, so when you choose the insulation material of these parts, the spray coating or the blanket insulation material should be adopted, not choose the plate-type insulation material, to avoid the material be destroyed owing to bending. The surface temperature  of each part of glass kiln is of great difference, so when you choose the insulation material( especially the compound insulation), must consider if the surface temperature of each layer material is within the suitable working range to avoid insulation loss efficacy.
