Refractory Coating Material Description
Refractory coating material is a kind of pasty refractory material used for working lining or protecting lining. Its solid/liquid mass ratio or volume ratio is similar to refractory mortar, refractory coating material belongs to Bingham fluid, has very good spread ability and can be worked by manual coating or mechanical spraying method.
Refractory coating material is functional material, it is divided into clean steel coating material, thermal radiation coating material, anti-oxidation coating material, heat preservation coating material, acid proof coating material and alkali proof coating material, etc. Refractory coating material is composed of refractory aggregate(fine aggregate + powder, or powder + super fine powder, powder + nanometer material), bonder and coating additives(such as dispersant, plasticizer, anti-settling agent, anti-shrinkage agent, sintering agent). Refractory coating material’s main raw materials, bonders and additives varies great based on applications.
Clean steel refractory coating material
Clean steel coating material is used for the working lining of continuous casting tundish, it is usually called as tundish coating material, and belongs to basic magnesia calcia coating material. The CaO in the tundish coating material can adhere impurities in the steel liquid such as oxides(Al2O3, SiO2, Fe2O3), P and S, therefore, decrease liquid steel impurities content, so it has the function of cleaning steel.
The components of magnesia calcia tundish coating material are dolomite or sintered magnesia calcia sand, sintered or fused magnesia sand ,bonder, additives and organic fibers. Generally speaking, the higher the CaO content is, the better the cleaning effect will be. But there is no definite value of CaO content, and high CaO content coating material is hard to produce.

The service life of magnesia calica tundish coating material is correlated with the thickness of the coating layer. Generally speaking, if the coating thickness is between 35~40mm, the continuous casting times is between 8 and 10, while the continuous casting times is over 10 if the coating thickness is 40~60mm.
