Steel Ladle Al2O3-MgO-C Refractory Description

With the rapid development of steel smelting technique, especially with the application of continuous casting and out furnace refining techniques, the requirement on ladle refractory material is much higher. So chemical corrosion resistant, scouring resistant, slag erosion resistant, thermal shock resistant and high mechanical strength refractory materials such as Alumina magnesia carbon refractory materials are developed, which can produce magnesia alumina spinel and significantly enhance corrosion resistance and spall resistance of refractory material, greatly prolongs the service life of steel ladle.

  1. Alumina Magnesia Spinel Castable

Bauxite based alumina magnesia spinel castable contains certain ratio of magnesia alumina spinel, which makes castable’s corrosion resistance and spall resistance ability improved greatly, the performance is better than water glass bound alumina magnesia castable and get excellent using effect in all kinds of steel ladles. Bauxite based alumina magnesia spinel castable ‘s service life is 2-4 times of water glass bound alumina magnesia castable.

  1. Alumina Magnesia Carbon Bricks

With the rapid development of continuous casting technique, high efficient continuous casting technique becomes the key point. To enhance continuous casting ladle service life and adapt to the technical requirement of continuous casting technique, alumina magnesia carbon bricks are developed and the service life of ladles is greatly increased.

Alumina magnesia carbon bricks is made from special grade high alumina bauxite clinker, fused magnesia sand or sintered magnesia sand, graphite and phenolic resin binder. Alumina magnesia carbon bricks have good slag corrosion resistance, erosion resistance,   thermal shock resistance and relative low price, can be used in different parts of steel ladles except for slag line.

  1. Alumina Magnesia Spinel Carbon Bricks

Alumina magnesia spinel carbon bricks added some ratio of pre-synthesized magnesia alumina spinel in the raw material used to make alumina magnesia carbon bricks. Alumina magnesia spinel carbon bricks’ high temperature performance is superior to alumina magnesia carbon bricks. The average service life of alumina magnesia spinel carbon bricks is 105 times when applied to 300t continuous casting ladle, max. service life is 200 times. Alumina magnesia spinel carbon bricks make the service life of continuous casting ladle further increased.

  1. High Class Alumina Magnesia Unburned Bricks

Carbon containing ladle lining bricks will cause carbon increasing during using, which is a disadvantage for the production of pure steel, low carbon steel and ultra low carbon steel. To meet the requirement of pure steel, low carbon steel and ultra low carbon steel production, high class alumina magnesia unburned bricks are developed. High quality alumina magnesia unburned bricks adopt high purity material(corundum, high purity fused magnesia sand and high purity alumina magnesia spinel, etc) and high performance composite binder. It has obtained excellent using effect when applied in steel ladles, the service life can reach to or even surpass carbon containing ladle lining bricks, meanwhile, steel liquid carbon increasing is avoided.

  1. High Grade Alumina Magnesia (Spinel) Castable

High grade alumina magnesia castable is mainly used for large scale and middle scale steel ladles. Raw materials of high grade alumina magnesia (spinel) castable include: corundum (fused corundum, sintered corundum), high purity fused magnesia sand, high purity alumina magnesia spinel (fused or sintered) and so on. Binders are: pure calcium aluminate cement, Al2O3 micro powder, high purity SiO2 micro powder and so on. The average service life of high class alumina magnesia castable casted 300t ladle is 258 times. When high grade alumina magnesia spinel castable is used in 90t LF refinery steel ladle, the service life is 138 times, erosion rate is 0.62mm/time.

Some steel factory also use castable pre-casted blocks, and the using effect is fairly good. For example, the service life of steel ladle alumina magnesia carbon bricks is 65 times, while the service life of high grade alumina magnesia spinel pre-casted blocks is 118 times, upper limits can reach to 126 times.
